General Questions
We want your visit to ActivRehab to be as smooth as possible. Here are some commonly asked questions to help you prepare for your first session.
How do I book my first appointment?
In clinic bookings are currently unavailable due to our location set up. Please email info@activrehab.co.uk to discuss what options we may have available at this time. We'll guide you through finding a time that fits your schedule.
What should I wear to my session?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing or gym wear is best. This allows your practitioner to easily assess your movements and provide treatment effectively.
Can I contact you with questions before I book?
Yes. If you’re unsure whether ActivRehab is the right fit for you once in-clinic bookings open, please email info@activrehab.co.uk with a brief summary of your situation and we’ll be happy to advise.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please bring a list of any current medications and details of previous surgeries or injuries relevant to your visit. Bringing your own water bottle is also recommended.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient who may need care.
How long does a session last?
Initial assessments typically take 75 minutes, while follow-up treatment sessions are around 45 minutes depending on your needs.
Clinical FAQs
Understanding your treatment is key to recovery. Here are our clinical perspectives on common rehabilitation questions.
Do I need an X-ray or MRI before starting?
Not necessarily. Clinical research shows that many conditions can be effectively diagnosed and treated through a physical assessment alone. We only recommend imaging if it is likely to change your treatment plan.
Are exercises safe for long-term conditions?
Absolutely. For chronic conditions, movement is often the best medicine. We specialise in modifying exercises to suit your specific physical history, ensuring rehabilitation is safe, sustainable, and effective.
Is it normal to feel pain during rehab?
Some discomfort is normal as we build strength. However, we use a 'pain-monitoring' approach to ensure exercises remain safe and productive. We'll teach you how to distinguish between 'good' rehab pain and an injury flare-up.
How are home exercise plans tailored?
Your plan is built around your equipment, time, and environment. Whether you have a full gym or 10 minutes at home, we design a realistic routine that integrates into your daily life for maximum compliance.
How long will my recovery take?
Recovery timelines vary based on the tissue involved and your goals. Soft tissue healing often takes 6-12 weeks, but functional improvement typically begins much sooner. We'll provide a specific prognosis after your assessment.
